| 2008
schedule released, exhibitions and promotions TBA
Dec. 20, 2007
RALEIGH, NC--
The
Coastal Plain League released its 2008 schedule today.
The new slate calls for a dramatic increase in
inner-divisional play and a re-realigned divisional
format. Wilson, after joining Peninsula in the
North Division prior to the 2007 season, will be
promptly shifted back to the South leaving Peninsula,
Edenton, Outer Banks and Petersburg as the only
four-team division in the three-division league.
The number of games,
however, remains unchanged at 56. Each team in the
North will combat its divisional foes 16 times each (8
home and 8 away) and play four selected non-divisional
opponents per half (2 home and 2 away). The '08
Pilots non-divisional calendar calls for home games
against Wilmington, Martinsville, Wilson and relocated
Forrest City (the entry formerly known as the
Spartanburg Stingers). The Pilots will travel to
Wilmington, perennial powers Martinsville, Fayetteville
and Thomasville (with whom the Pilots have split six
games, 3-3, in the past two seasons and have met in the
Championship game in each of the past two seasons).
The Pilots plan on
establishing at least two additional exhibition games
against non-league opponents as well bringing the total
number of home games to 30+.
Tickets go on sale
February 1st, with full season (30 games), 9-game, and
5-game mini plan tickets available. There will be
three unique 5-game plans available, each of which will
include a free ticket to the 'Fan Appreciation' season
finale (Monday August 4 against Petersburg). Fans
will have the opportunity to buy into either the
'Thursday Night, Friday Night, or Saturday Night' plan.
Each night will feature 5 scheduled games. The
nine game plan allows fans to select any of the 5-game
plans and add tickets for the 4 non-divisional games as
well. More details will follow. If you have
questions prior to February 1, please call the ticket
office (757-245-2222).
