The Peninsula Pilots pulled itself closer to first place Edenton with a big road win at Outer Banks Thursday as they defeated the Daredevils 7-5.
The Pilots trailed the Daredevils heading into the ninth and would tack on three runs to earn its 10th win in the CPL second half.
Peninsula would tie the ball game on a throwing error by pitcher John Cornely, scoring lead-off batter
Adam McConnell (Richmond) from first base.
Matt Rice (Western Kentucky) would earn the go-ahead RBI scoring collegiate teammate
Ivan Hartle (Western Kentucky) on a sacrifice fly to right field.
Will Lamb (Clemson) would then get one of three hits on the night with a RBI double scoring
David Coleman (Virginia).
Adam Wisniewski (Old Dominion) took the win for the Pilots, improving his record to 2-0 while closer
Tony Chisman (Georgia Southern) would earn his fourth save coming in the ninth. With runners on second and third and one out, Chisman would get the next two batters to pop out to earn the Pilots . Pitcher
Clay Dalton (Georgia Tech) would quite the Outer Banks' bats going 2 1/3 innings. Dalton would become an obstacle in the Outer Banks' road, striking out seven while allowing just one hit.
